Comparing Comexim 3HC-altered, unaltered, and lightly altered

This is going to be a long comparison consisting of 5 bras. I intally wanted to do 2 or 3 bras, but with some of the altered bras, I’m not 100% sure what alterations were done. I will have pictures and measurements, so this will be a long post. There will be pictures of how I measured the bras, for your information.

Bras:

Rita 70F- Unaltered aside from the fact it is a 3HC

Annika 65G- reduced gore (possibly reduced cup)

Snake 65G- reduced gore* (possibly reduced cup and straps moved in)

Veronique 65G- reduced gore, reduced cup and straps moved in

Basic 70F- reduced gore, reduced cup and straps moved in

For all intents and purposes the Veronique and the Basic are to be considered completely altered, and the Annika and the Snake are considered somewhat altered. I can’t say with 100% certainty that any alterations aside from rom the reduced gore were done on the Annika and the Snake, or if they were altered by 1 cm instead of 2. Anyone that has ordered from Comexim knows that they don’t really confirm whether or not they will do or have done an alteration. So hopefully this will help someone.

All of the pictures will follow this order- Rita and Annika together, and Snake Veronique and Basic together, with the basic being the last bra.

Fit wise the Rita is the cup that is the most open on me, and it actually has a bit of room at the top. The basic is the cup that is the smallest on me with The Veronique closely following. I’m not sure if I’ve ever mentioned this, but to be completely honest, I’d want all of my bras to be as low as the basic. I know that it looks too small, (well it is too small), but that’s the height that I would like for bras. Seeing as how I have tall roots, I have no issue with taller cups.

*I know all the bra except for the Rita lol too small in the cups, but my breasts settle after a while.

Top of the cup:

The actual measurements may be slightly off from the picture, but it was kind of hard to get the tape to curve the way the bra does.

Rita 6.5 inches

Annika 6.25 inches

Snake 6 inches

Veronique 5.75 inches

Basic 5.875 inches

Thoughts: The Rita is a little too open on top for me. The basic doesn’t have the smallest measurement, which is why there isn’t a lot of quadding. I do want to mention that the Annika is supposed to have a copper ribbon at the top, I requested that my bra not have that ribbon because I don’t really like the color.

Width:

Rita 5 inches

Annika 5 inches

Snake 5 inches

Veronique 5.25 inches

Basic 5 inches

Thoughts: I’m not sure why, but I’m surprised to see that the width is pretty much the same for all the bras. Theoretically since they’re either the same size or sister size, it should be the same. But it goes to show that just because a cup is altered, the width still stays the same.

Depth:

Rita 8 inches

Annika 7.75 inches

Snake 7.5 inches

Veronique 8 inches

Basic 8 inches

Thoughts: its interesting to see that the depth on the Snake is the smallest, and that the Veronique, Rita and basic all have the same depth. I would have expected the depth of the basic to be less than the other bras, since it seems a lot smaller while on.

Cup height:

Rita 6.25 inches

Annika 5 inches

Snake 5 inches

Veronique 5 inches

Basic 5 inches

Thoughts: this was measured near the outer seam of the 3HC. All of the bras except the Rita have the same measurement. The Rita is 1.125 inches taller than the rest, so this can account for why the Rita seems a little too big

Gore:

Rita 2.75 inches

Annika 2.25 inches

Snake 2.75 inches

Veronique 2.25 inches

Basic 2.125 inches

Thoughts: the gore on both the Rita and Snake bras can be considered  unaltered. I definitely asked for a reduced gore on the snake bra, so it wasn’t done. 2.75 inches is the height of the gore on my unaltered 65Gs/70Fs.

Strap to wire:

The actual measurements may be slightly off from the picture, but it was kind of hard to get the tape to curve the way the bra does.

Rita 2 inches

Annika 2 inches

Snake 2.125 inches

Veronique 2.5 inches

Basic 2.375 inches

Thoughts: I’m guessing this is what matters most to the people that need the straps moved in, because as you can see, the area is larger on the very altered bras and smaller on the unaltered. I don’t have narrow or sloping shoulders, so moving the straps in, isn’t a necessary alteration for me.

Seam to seam (top):

Rita 1.5 inches

Annika 2 inches

Snake 1.75 inches

Veronique 1.75 inches

Basic 1.75 inches

Thoughts: I’m not sure if this measurement will help anyone with anything, but it is interesting to me that the Rita has the smallest measurement, and the Annika has the largest.

Seam to seam (bottom):

Rita 1.125 inches

Annika 1.125 inches

Snake 1.25 inches

Veronique 1.125-1.25 inches

Basic 1.125 inches

Thoughts: I’m not sure if this measurement will help anyone with anything, but it is interesting to see that the measurements are almost the same.

So hopefully this post has helped someone when they’re deciding whether to try an unaltered or altered Comexim 3 piece halfcup. If you get nothing out of this post, just know that Comexim will reduce the cup on a 3HC (and that reduction does not come from the middle of the cup.

Avocado Essentia NF 65E

So… As you will see shortly, this bra is added on to my list of Polish (European) bras that don’t fit.

The NF style is mentioned as being: “Shape NF (Natural Firm) for natural uplifted shape: breasts gathered from the sides and uplifted. horizontal cup seam curved near the bridge for extra depth, closed cup edge (cage-cup)”

The band

The band feels firm, but also feels like it’s riding up. Unstretched its 23.5 inches ( cm), and stretched its 29.5 inches (cm). My comfortable underbust measurement is 28.5 inches (72.39 cm). So it’s about an inch bigger than what I need. The band is a different material from the rest of the bra. It’s thicker (I don’t believe it was 2 pieces of fabric, but I didn’t check before I sent the bra back)

The cups

The cups remind me of Freya cups. They’re closed on top, but there was wrinkling at the seam, so I wouldn’t be able to size down in this bra. The sides of the cup come up rather high. There is also some space between my breast and the wire, as well as space near the sides of the cup. Oddly enough the bra feels like it’s too wide, but it only measures 5 inches (12.7 cm) wide.

This bra won’t work on FOT (without some cutting in), and it won’t work on FOB because theres no depth at the wire. I’m thinking it could probably work on shallow breasts, or maybe for even breasts.

The straps

The straps feel very stretchy, and it almsot makes them feel like they’re to tight. But I am able to wear the bra with the straps adjusted a good amount. If I adjust the straps at the loosest, there’s a lot of wrinkling in the cup.  The straps are also fully adjustable.

The gore

The gore is very high on me, and it pokes. It definitely feels pokey even being worn for a short amount of time.

I don’t have additional pictures of the bra because I initially wasn’t planning on returning the bra. I thought to myself “I’ll just keep it because it’s an ‘okay’ bra” but then I remembered that I paid $40 for each bra and realized if I paid that much for an “okay” bra from Amazon, I’d return it without a second thought. I did debate on whether or not to sell the bra, but I don’t think anyone would buy such a ‘basic’ bra for $40. A lot of the Avocado bras I see on bratabase are a lot more fancy, and they’re selling for around $30-$40. Plus with how Ill-fitting the bra is on me, I can see this bra not being sold for a while.

Ewa Michalak BM Naomi 70DD

This is my 2nd BM. I ordered this at the same time I ordered the Tajemniczy Ozgrod. Even though they’re the same cut they fit differently. Overall this bra is the smaller of the two.

I’ve had a few people mention this bra to me, mainly because I always talk about wanting brown bras (so they can be worn under light/white tops). I resisted for the longest because  thought it was going to be too big. Plus I wasn’t in love with the color. I like the dark brown of the cups, but not the ‘mink’ color of the rest of the bra. But I’m glad I actually took the plunge and bought this bra.

The lower parts of the cups, as well as the band have a thin black lining.

There is a piece of fabric that connects the straps to the cups.

There are mink and white polka dot bows.

The straps

There is a piece of fabric that connects the strap to the actual cup.

The straps are fully adjustable and I can wear this bra with the straps almost at their longest with no issue. The straps are nice and thin at half an inch in width (1.27 cm). The straps are stretchy, but don’t feel overly stretchy.

The band

The band feels firm and comfortable, it stretches to 28.8 inches (73.15 cm), so it’s very close to my comfortable snug measurement. I can wear this on the loosest setting with slight riding up. The band does seem wider than most of my bras. The wing height is 4 inches on this bra as well as my M opuncja, but on this bra the band seems to stay closer to 4 inches, whereas the band on the M gets smaller. I do get some wrinkling in the band, and I’m not sure what the cause is.

The cups

The cups feel lower on this than the T.O., there is literally 1/8 of a difference, but it feels like more than that. I also get more of a rounded appearance, not completely round, because there is a subtle peak. In a tight cami it looks like a ‘better’ version of my natural shape.

The bottom of the cups don’t seem to have as much projection at the wire, and I do get a little bit of wrinkling.

The gore

Like the other BM I have, the gore digs in after a few hours. The height of the gore is 2 inches. The tops of the wire are pretty close together, at a little over half an inch (.6 inches), so the gore is narrow enough for my breasts.

The wires

After a few hours the front of the wires bother me a bit.  The wires in this bra are just too heavy for me. Which makes sense, because this bra style is meant for medium to large breasts (as far as I know). The wires do come up high on the sides, enough that they can occassionally feel pokey (but it’s not often). The wires encase my breasts completely.

After trying this, and the T.O., I decided I really like Ewa’s unlined bras, so I ordered 3DM Amorek, and Rozowa Mgielka. The 3DM is an unlined style that is made specifically for smaller busts. I can’t wait for them to arrive. (I revered them about a week ago, and then added more stuff to my order, so I probably won’t get them for a month or so.

Comexim Coco 70F

After receiving and wearing the Comexim Donna and the Chloe I decided I wanted to try the Comexim unlined halfcup. I’ve loved the way it looked since seeing other bloggers/women talk about this bra, but I was never sure if the top of the bra would work for my tall roots. Plus I don’t like the way most unlined halfcups look on me. I feel like they’re more for looks than of function. In my case function would be  any sort of lifting.
As with most black bras, I decided to size up in the band. When I looked at the measurements for 70E and 70F, 70E looked like it was a better fit, 70F was a little deeper than what I can wear.  I went with an F cup and asked for the cup to be reduced 1cm, and the straps moved in 1cm.

Comfort

Overall this bra is very comfortable to wear. I wore it 3 days in a row (gross, I know- but I didn’t sweat so that okay, right?) and barely felt any discomfort. The cups were only slightly itchy every so often.

The band

As I’ve said above I ordered this in a 70 band. I really could have gone with a 65, because this is too loose. On the loosest setting the band rides up, a lot. I can comfortably wear this on the tightest setting. Thankfully the band doesn’t move around when I wear it on the loosest setting. The band stretches to 31 inches (78.74 cm).

For a while I’ve noticed that with my Comexim bras (and only my Comexims) that the bottom of the band ends up feeling tight after a few hours. Naturally I was thinking that it was me- My torso was somehow incompatible with Comexim bands. But as you see in the 2 pics above, it’s not me. Comexim seems to make the upper portion of the band looser than the lower part of the band. When I wear this bra on the tightest setting, I get the gap you see above, on both sides. I believe it is like this on the tightest setting because the bottom of the band is being stretched, but the top part isn’t (because the top part is longer than the bottom part). I will eventually put a dart on both sides of the band to make the top and bottom parts even, and that will hopefully prevent the band from riding up.

The cups

The width of the cups is 5 inches. I think realistically I need 5.25 inches to be completely contained. When I put this bra on I have to make sure my whole breast is in the cup. There does seem to me more depth at the wire than in Comexim plunges. I’ve read other reviews where it is mentioned that this bra is minimizing, I don’t think it is (on me). With the bra on my standing overbust is still 34.5 inches  (87.63 cm). While it isn’t minimizing, it does give me a round shape, because it pushes my nipples/areolas in. (While my nipples aren’t prominent, I do believe they lead me to constantly having s pointy appearance in some bras).

The very first time I tried this bra on, the sides of the cup felt like they were rubbing, but I haven’t felt that since that day.

The top of the cups is stretchy. I don’t get any cutting in or quadding, but I could potentially see that happening if someone FOT got a size too small, or for someone that was very FOT.

The gore

The gore is 2.5 inches high and only .5 inches wide!!! The wire channels are overlapping (I did not ask for this, but I like it)

The wires

I have to be careful with the wires and make sure they’re not sitting on breast tissue when I’m wearing the bra. When the band is on the loosest setting it moves around and can cause the wire to not completely encase my breast (because it’s not being stretched at all). One of the times I wore this the wires were sitting on my tissue, and I didn’t feel it. I didn’t notice it until after I took of the bra. I think because comexims wires are so soft, I didn’t feel it.

Comparison pics. The top pics is with the band on the loosest setting, and the bottom pics is the tightest setting.

In general I’d say I’m happy with my purchase, except for the issue with the band. The bra is 100% comfortable to wear for a 10 hour shift. I don’t find myself adjusting anything throughout the day. The bra isn’t as itchy as the Donna or the Chloe.

Avocado Essentia K 65E

So… As you will see shortly, this bra is added on to my list of Polish (European) bras that don’t fit. I really wanted the Avocado bra to fit me, but I think I really need to try the RV cut before completely giving up on Avocado. There are a few bras in the RV style, but they’re all $68+ in a size that I wolud need. I’m not willing to pay that much, just to see if it will fit. I think I knew based on the description of this bra ( as well as the NF) that it/they wouldn’t work for my shape, or give me the shape I want.

I’ve wanted to try the Essentia bras for the longest, because I like that they’re a somewhat basic style. However, the issue I’ve had with Avocado, is that for whatever reason for the essentia bras pictured all show the model wearing the same bra. Not similar, it’s the same exact bra/picture. So you can’t really see how the bra fits.

The K style is mentioned as being: “Model medium built, with a more horizontal neckline and bust lifting harder than the classic model A”, and “Plunging demi-cup style with fantastic uplift”

The band

The band feels loose to me, but firm at the same time. Unstretched its 23.3 inches (59.18 cm), and stretched its 29 inches (73.66 cm). My comfortable underbust measurement is 28.5 inches (72.39 cm). So it’s about half an inch bigger than what I need. The band is a different material from the rest of the bra. It’s thicker (I don’t believe it was 2 pieces of fabric, but I didn’t check before I sent the bra back)

The cups

The cups are a complete fail on me. The one thing I can say about this bra, is that it is not FOT friendly. The very top of the cup is closed on top. However there’s some room in the cup above the horizontal seam. If I adjust the straps so that the band feels ‘tight’ then here’s less room, but if I adjust the straps to their longest, then there’s a lot of room. So I can’t size down because I’ll definitely get some cutting in/quadding.

The space in the cups when the straps are adjusted to the longest length.

The space in the cups when the straps are adjusted to the longest length.

I don’t think there’s enough depth at the wire. And because of the ‘extreme’ bust lifting properties, this bra gives me a crazy cone/bullet like shape. Because of this, I don’t know who this bra woud fit. Won’t work on FOT (without some cutting in), won’t work on FOB because theres no depth at the wire. Probably wouldn’t work on shallow breasts, because there’s lot of apex projection. Maybe it would work best for even breasts?

This picture has the best representation of how pointy the bra looked in person.

This picture has the best representation of how pointy the bra looked in person.

The sides of the cup come up rather high.

The straps

The straps feel very stretchy, and it almsot makes them feel like they’re to tight. But I am able to wear the bra with the straps adjusted a good amount. (However, that makes the sides feel really high.) The straps are also fully adjustable.

Ordering from Avocado

Ordering from Avocado is pretty straightforward, but I just want to talk about a few things.

What I did for my order, was I went to Collections’ and clicked on ‘Essentia’ because 1. That was the cheapest style and 2. It is their “basic” bra. When I looked for this order I wasn’t sure which style to get, so I went with my main Polish size of 65E.

Sizing

According to their size guide, I’d be somewhere between an E cup and an F cup ( my overbust being 87.63 cm. On a 65 band E cup is 86 cm, and F cups is 90 cm. If I went by their underbust measurement, I would have gone with a 60 band (and either an F cup or a G cup. The only time I really wear 28 bands is when I wear Freya bras. Before I ordered from Avocado, I did search around but most blog posts/reviews that I read were on women with breasts a lot bigger than mine. There was one bra for sale in 60E and going by the measurements it was too small, so I decided not to try a 60 band. I should have gone with a 69 band though, because the 65 felt rather loose.

Pricing

When I first heard of Avocado and went on their website, there was an option for pricing to be in złoty as well as euros. Currently on the website, the currency it s only in Euros. Last year when I was first thinking about the Essentia bras, there was a special “2 for 92,25”. I’ll just assume for the time being that it meant if you buy 2, they’ll both be 92,25zł, which equals about $23USD (each). The reason why I bring this up, is because the current price is 33,32€ which converts to ~$36. Maybe it’s just me, but I’d rather the pricing be in Zloty than Euro (it’s cheaper for us americans).

I bought 2 Essentia bras for 33,32€ each, which with the shipping (VAT was included) came to 78,76€ (~$87USD). On the day I bought these bras, I had an abundance of money sitting in my checking account, so I said ‘what the hay’. And didn’t think about the price. (Coincidentally I also bought 2 Ewa bras for around the same amount…)

Ordering times

I placed my order September 18th. Sept 19th I received an email stating that my order was processing. Sept 21st, I received an email stating that my bras were shipped. I received the bras around October 1st. So it took a total of 10 days (7 business days) for me to receive my bras once they were shipped. I live on the east coast, so that’s not too bad.

The packaging

Someone has mentioned this before, but once you open the shipping bag you are HIT with a strong floral-like scent. It’s very strong. To help you imagine the smell, imagine putting in a dryer sheet in a bag with bras. That’s exactly what it smells like. I’m not particularly sensitive to smells, but even this was too much for me. The reason for the strong smell is they put some sort of potpourri/bath balls in the bag. Don’t get me wrong, it’s cute, but very strong. If you have issues with strong smells, you may want to email them asking them to not put the scented balls in your package. The smell won’t come out of the bras until you wash them or air them out.

There was also a catalogue like booklet in the package. And on the very back of the booklet, there is pictures of some of the bra fits (with no description of the actual fits). I’m thinking it’s a somewhat older booklet, because the styles are ‘A H & K’, I don’t think there’s a lot of H or A styles on their site for sale.

The straps connect to the upper portion of the cup

The strap is connected to the lower outer portion of the cup.

The straps are attached to the upper portion of the cup, and there is a slight curve of the diagonal seam.

Returning

I debated for a few days as to whether or not I was going to keep the bras. But for the price I paid, I knew I wouldn’t be able to sell them without losing a good amount of money. So I decided to return them. I ended up paying $9 in return shipping. In the shipping bag, along with the bras there’s 2 sheets. One is like the order form, and the other is a contract that you fill out if you decide to return the bra. I wish I took a picture, but I didn’t think about it until today, days after I shipped the bras back. On the paper it states that you can receive your refund by a bank check/money order, OR directly into your bank account. Neither one of those options were acceptable to me, so I made a note that I would prefer the money be refunded to my PayPal account. I did put my info down for the check/money order option though. I don’t know if I’ll have an issue cashing an international form of payment.

I tried to print the return label via PayPal with the return address provided by Avocado, however Paypal wouldn’t let me complete the transaction, because the ‘region’ was missing.

Avocado
Ul. Pilicka 14
60-401 Poznań
Poland

I assume ‘Poland’ is the region, but since this is something I was sending back for a refund, I didn’t want to assume (and risk losing my refund because the package got lost), I emailed Avocado and asked them what the address was to send the bras back. This is the address they gave me

Avocado Lingerie

ul. Jackowskiego 15
60-508 Poznań

Wielkspolska

Whenever I get the refund I will let y’all know how it goes.

Based on how the bras fit, in conjunction with the price, and the lack of reviews in smaller sizes, I don’t see myself ordering from Avocado again.

Ewa Michalak BM Tajemniczy Ozgród 70DD

Tajemniczy Ozgròd translated means Secret Garden. Such a cute name for a cute bra.

When I first saw this bra, I said ‘I need to have that!’ But I did not know if/how the BM cut would fit me. The BM cut can be described as a full coverage lightly lined bra which gives a less round shape than most other Ewa cuts (that is obviously not something I paid attention to before I bought the bra)

So, before I start the review, I do want to talk about what I did to this bra before I wore it. The cups were a little too big (there was a slight wrinkle in the bigger cup, and from the side it was pointy), and the band was too big. So I decided to attempt to shrink it. What I did was get a plastic container and put hot water in it. From my days of trying to shrink jeans, I knew the best thing to do would be to use extremely hot water. I was impatient so instead of actually boiling water I put the bowl of water in the microwave for around 7 minutes. After 7 minutes, I added about a capful of vinegar to the water, to keep the color from fading/running. A lot of Ewa bras mention that they need to be washed with a powder. I then placed the bra in the water for around 15/20 minutes. I then rung it out, and placed it in the dryer (in a lingerie bag, by itself) on the delicates cycle. According to the dryer the cycle was for 29 minutes. I wasn’t watching the dryer, but 30 minutes later when I took it out the dryer it was still a little damp. When I got home and tried the bra on, it did feel a little tighter, so I was happy with it.

The band

The band is actually too loose for me. Normally I’d order a 65E, but since the last two 65 bands I got from Ewa were way too small, I wasn’t taking that chance again. I’d rather have a band that’s a little too big than too small.  I have extenders, but I keep losing them. Originally when I measured the band it stretched to 30 inches (76.2 cm). There’s a total of 4 columns, and when I wear this bra, I have it hooked on the second to the tightest hook. So it’s definitely larger than any band I currently wear. I do think I would have been okay with a 65 band in this bra.

The cups

Measurement wise, this bra fits- the width is 5 inches (12.7 cm), and 8.5 inches (21.59 cm) for the depth, with a cup height of 6.1 inches (15.49 cm) (I do wish it was a little shorter, but it’s not actually too tall for me). **The depth of the bra after being shrunk measures 8.25 inches- 20.96 cm; The height of the cup after being shrunk went to 5.9/6 inches- 14.99/15.24 cm. So it’s not a huge difference, but it was enough since the bra wasn’t huge on me.

The top of the cup is a stretchy tulle, which is perfect for FOT breasts. I almost want to consider this a 4 part cup, because there is technically 4 pieces to the cup- the outer lower portion, the inner lower portion, the upper portion (which are the main 3 parts), but there’s also a piece that attached the strap to the outer bottom & upper portion of the bra. This bra in particular does not have a thick lining, the material is almost like a very sof/silky feeling interfacing.

The gore

The one thing that keeps Ewa’s from being 100% for me (in most of her styles) is the gore. The gore on this is 2.25 inches (5.72 cm), and .75 inches (1.91 cm) wide, which is the same as my Conexims, BUT the gore on this bra stabs me. It’s not an immediate thing. I didn’t feel the gore until 11am, so about 4 hours after I put it on. I would be very happy if it had a soft tack.

This style is considered a balconette, but the gore isn’t as high as the wires on the side. It’s a I shape, but the inner part is shorter than the outer part.

The wires

The wires are too hard for me. I can feel them throughout the day. The wires encompass my breasts completely. There is a little sore area at the top of the outer area on my bigger breast where the wire was occasionally poking.

Ewa please use softer wires on smaller sizes. 😩

The straps

The straps are fully adjustable. I can’t say whether they’re too wide or not because they for me okay.

For me, the appearance from the side isn’t as round as I would like, but that’s partly because I have pointy breasts.
